Today, Year 3 visited Derby Museum to develop our knowledge of Ancient Egypt – our topic for this half term.
We were greeted by an Egyptian lady, Azeeza, who told us about her country and ways of life. We got to dress in authentic Egyptian costumes and have a go at mummifying one of our class members (without the gory parts!) Whilst there, we also looked at a real mummified body dating back to over 2600 years ago! There were still eyebrow hairs, teeth and toe nails intact! How incredible!
Finally, we made our own clay shabti. This is a good luck amulet that was put in the sarcophagus to guide the dead to the afterlife.
