Music

Music is held in high regard and taught by staff across the school. We allow the children to experience a variety of genres and musical instruments.

We use the Charanga Music scheme to teach the specific knowledge and skills of music and ensure that we have a progressive curriculum as well as linking the teaching of music to our varied topics.

Children’s musical skills are enriched through the specific teaching of skills in Y3 and Y4 with Mrs. Clarke who  teaches the ukulele and untuned percussion instruments.

At St. Oswald's, we work with members of St. Oswald's Church community to give the children opportunities to sing hymns and choral music from the Christian tradition. Music is an important part of our assemblies and services held in the church and we have enjoyed taking part in projects e.g. Hymnpact with the Royal School of Church Music.

Staff are provided with CPD by the Derbyshire Music Education Hub.
